An army aviation crew on a Ka-52 helicopter has disrupted the rotation of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) units in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported in the Russian Defense Ministry on Saturday, January 25.

The Ka-52 crew was tasked to support Russian ground forces. According to the coordinates of the location of armored vehicles and enemy personnel determined in advance by reconnaissance, missiles were launched. The targets were successfully hit.

After completing the combat mission, the pilots performed an anti-missile maneuver at low altitude and fired heat traps, which are used to protect against strikes by Ukrainian man-portable surface-to-air missile systems (MANPADS).

Earlier, on January 24, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian Air and Space Forces (AFS) aircraft struck a temporary deployment point of an AFU assault brigade near the village of Novodmitrovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR).

On the same day, an army aviation crew on a Mi-28 helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group disrupted the rotation of AFU units in the border area of Kursk Region. It was specified that in the course of support of ground troops, the pilots of the Army aviation performed missile launches at specified coordinates and hit armored vehicles, as well as manpower of Ukrainian formations.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by the President of the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the worsening situation in the region.
