Russian Armed Forces pilot destroys AN-124 transport plane with AFU equipment
A Russian pilot with the call sign Komissar has destroyed an An-124 transport plane carrying equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) while it was being unloaded at a military airfield. This was reported by RT on January 24.
The serviceman noted that he and other soldiers of the Russian Armed Forces had to manage to eliminate the plane at the military airfield of the AFU before the equipment was taken away from there. The task was accomplished in an hour.
"There were a lot of armored vehicles, tanks, weapons, military. Then we received confirmation that the target had been hit: the fireworks were huge. The airfield was blazing hard. We were noted then and in the General Staff, where this target was on the control", - said the Commissioner.
After that all four - two pilots and two navigators - were presented to the award.
In addition, the pilot told how he received his first of three Orders of Courage. In Syria, he managed to land the plane a kilometer from the runway when two engines failed. The commissar did not eject to the last and saved the aircraft.
Earlier in the day, Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) aircraft struck a temporary deployment point of an assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) near the village of Novodmitrovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR).
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
