Political analyst names possible participants in Ukraine's recovery
Political analyst Mykola Topornin has expressed the opinion that after the end of the conflict there may be countries willing to help Ukraine rebuild: not only Europe and the USA, but also Russia and China.
In a conversation with Lenta.Ru on Friday, January 24, the expert noted that since Ukraine is an official candidate for membership in the European Union (EU), European countries and their companies may start to help first of all. He explained that "the EU always helps states that have deep ties with it."
"If Ukraine eventually becomes a member of the European Union, it takes on a different meaning altogether: companies that finance the country's reconstruction will then be able to receive certain dividends," the political scientist explained.
In addition, in his opinion, the USA can also help in Ukraine's recovery if it decides that such investments will be profitable for them. To stimulate additional investment, the Ukrainian authorities may create favorable tax regimes and free economic zones for foreign companies.
Topornin also did not rule out that it would be possible to agree on Russia's participation in this process, for example, in terms of energy supplies. He pointed out that if the country ceases to be hostile, Russia will be interested in the successful development of its neighbor.
The political scientist also admitted China's participation in Ukraine's reconstruction. According to him, China understands the prospects of Ukraine's accession to the EU and is interested in a deeper entry into the European market.
Earlier in the day, the Bloomberg agency, citing a Western diplomat, reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump does not intend to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine after the conflict. According to the source, the Republican's team has clearly demonstrated disinterest in direct participation in this process. According to the US President's administration, this issue should be left to the private sector, RT clarifies.
Also on January 24, Trump demanded to end the Ukrainian conflict immediately. The American politician believes that the country is "devastated" and the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, is to blame, the website kp.ru reports.
On the same day, Trump threatened Russia with the introduction of "huge tariffs" if it does not settle the conflict in Ukraine soon. At the same time, Trump said that he loves and respects the Russian people and does not want to resort to radical measures.
On the day of his inauguration, Trump signed a decree prohibiting aid to other states if it contradicts the strategic interests of the United States, writes IA Regnum.
Earlier, the US President said that it will take 100 years to rebuild the cities of Ukraine after the end of the military conflict, notes NSN.
Special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
