Turkey arrests hotel owner after fire at ski resort
The court has arrested the owner of the Grand Kartal hotel in the ski resort of Kartalkaya, where 78 people died in a fire. This was reported by CNN Türk on January 24.
According to the TV channel, a total of 14 people were detained as part of the criminal case.
"It was decided to arrest the owner of the business Halit Ergül," - stated in the publication.
As reported by TRT Haber TV channel, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized that all those responsible for the incident will be brought to justice.
"Necessary and comprehensive investigations into the tragedy have been launched," he said.
According to Ahaber, 78 people were killed in the fire, with 79 victims previously reported.
A massive fire at a resort in Bolu occurred on the night of January 21. According to CNN Türk, the fire started in a wooden hotel located at an altitude of 2.2 thousand meters. It was specified that there were almost 240 guests in the building. Erdogan declared January 22 a day of mourning in the country after the fire.
