Every year on February 23, Russia celebrates one of the main state holidays, Defender of the Fatherland Day, dedicated to all servicemen, veterans and heroes of the past who fought for the freedom of their homeland. It is not uncommon for Russians to get an extra day off in honor of the celebration, but in 2025 it is not provided for. "Izvestia" tells how non-working days are distributed in the last month of winter.

Defender of the Fatherland Day is an official day off in the Russian Federation. According to the law, if the holiday falls on a weekday, it is recognized as a non-working day, and if it falls on Saturday or Sunday, the day off is transferred to Monday or Friday.

In 2025, February 23 falls on a Sunday, but according to the government decree of 04.10.2024 № 1335 "On the transfer of days off in 2025", this day is transferred to Thursday, May 8. Monday, February 24, is already a full working day. Thus, in the last month of winter to rest longer on holidays will not be available, but in May, Russians are waiting for a full vacation from May 8 to 11.

In total, according to the production calendar, in February 2025, people working on a five-day schedule will have eight days off: February 1-2, 8-9, 15-16 and 22-23.

In the year of the Victory anniversary front-line veterans, home front workers and other categories will receive from Br55 thousand to Br80 thousand.

In addition to Defender of the Fatherland Day, other holidays are also celebrated in February. Among them: Day of the defeat by Soviet troops of Nazi troops in the Battle of Stalingrad (February 2), Day of Russian Science (February 8), All Lovers' Day (February 14), Shrovetide (from February 24 to March 2) and others.
