Lipetsk City Hall has saved millions of rubles on road and street maintenance this winter. Abnormally warm, snowless weather contributed to this, the press service of the city administration reported on Friday, January 24.

Before the beginning of the winter season, the mayor's office signed contracts for road cleaning in the amount of Br103.5 million. As of January 23, only Br250 thousand was spent for these purposes.

As explained in the mayor's office, the wear of asphalt is higher in snowless winters. Therefore, most of the saved money will be used for patching and landscaping of urban areas. Another part of the funds will be allocated for road maintenance in November-December 2025.

However, the management companies have not yet noticed significant savings. Representatives of utility firms said that in 2024 the regional capital was drowning in snow and more money was spent on cleaning. The tariff provided for only six mechanized cleanings per season, while conscientious MCs removed snow more often.

"We cleaned not as much as the tariff stipulated, but as much as the mayor's office demanded. All the savings of this year, it is a paltry amount of money, will go to the houses, no one will pocket it," - explained the director of one of the management companies, his quote quotes GOROD48.

At the same time, janitors work regardless of the presence of snow on the streets. Now those who responsibly approach to work, work even more: it is necessary to clean the city from dirt and sand.

Earlier it was reported that more than 300 million rubles will be allocated for road repair in Lipetsk in 2025. The plan is to renew the roadbed on Kovalev, Bauman, Stakhanov, Luchista and other streets.
