Vadim Maryinsky, a researcher at the Department of Hydrobiology of the Faculty of Biology at MSUM, said that ticks are not insects, but belong to spiders.

In a conversation with Radio 1 on Friday, January 24, the expert pointed out that ticks have eight sheaths, not seven. Nevertheless, they are often confused with insects.

Maryinsky also noted that in the European part of Russia, even in the northern regions, there are sporadic cases of ticks. In some regions, they are seen more often than before. He explained that periodic fluctuations in numbers are characteristic of many small invertebrate animals, and these are natural processes. Periods of these fluctuations can last for decades.

Meanwhile, according to him, it is not worth claiming that "in 50 years all forests will be in ticks".

On January 23, it became known that in the Moscow region began to wake up ticks due to abnormally warm weather, but their awakening is not a mass character. Pet owners walking their pets, began to notice them on the hair of dogs. So far, only a few cases of ticks have been recorded, reports RIAMO.

On the same day, expert Igor Glamazdin pointed out the importance of treating pets from ticks even in winter. So, according to the expert, in the last few years there is a tendency to increase the number of ticks in urban forest parks in the warm periods of winter.

The same day Rospotrebnadzor warned that the season of activity of ticks may start earlier, RT specifies. Specialists advised to observe precautions when outdoors, in the park, in the forest and use means for protection against ticks, writes NSN. Also in the agency compared the current weather with the climatic situation in 2014. That time because of the abnormal warm winter ticks woke up in mid-February, recalls the website kp.ru.

January 22, Vadim Maryinsky in a conversation with 360.ru told how not to become a victim of ticks in warm winter. According to him, it is worth refraining from picnics and breaks in warm days in those parts of the forest where there is no snow. He added that on dried areas and last year's grass, where ticks like to live, it is still better not to stop unnecessarily, reports aif.ru.
