Gastritis is one of the most common diseases of the digestive system, which occurs at any age, including children. The most important component of treatment of this pathology is proper nutrition. Elena Butenko, doctor-gastroenterologist of SM-Clinica, Candidate of Medical Sciences, told Izvestia on January 26.

She noted that the strictest diet is prescribed in the stage of exacerbation of gastritis, and then with improvement of health, the therapeutic diet is gradually expanded.

"The most important rule that should be adhered to in the exacerbation of chronic gastritis and acute gastritis is to consume food that is gentle for the stomach. That is, it should be mushy or liquid in consistency, easily digestible and do not irritate the walls of the already inflamed stomach, "- explained Butenko.

Based on this, she said, should be excluded from the diet of coarse food: all coarse fiber, raw fruits and vegetables, fatty meat and coarse fiber. It is also necessary to exclude everything fried, spicy, pickled, smoked and sour.

"Cooking can only be done by methods of boiling, baking and steaming. It is preferable to use an oven, multicooker, steamer for cooking any dishes. At the same time, food should not be too hot or too cold, you can eat only warm dishes. It is best if the dishes will be in a liquid or mushy state, "- added gastroenterologist.

The doctor told and about the products that are preferable during an exacerbation of gastritis. In particular, it is mucous soups, non-boiled and low-fat broths, which envelop the stomach and help relieve inflammation. Boiled, steamed, baked without crusts dishes from lean varieties of meat, poultry, fish - it is in this form of protein is better digested. You can also eat boiled porridge (oatmeal, rice, buckwheat, semolina), cooked with water or milk - if well tolerated - so that they were semi-liquid. Most importantly, avoid instant porridge.

"You should also include in the diet sour milk products of low fat content - they are essential, as they normalize the intestinal microflora, promoting better digestion. Boiled or steamed vegetables: potatoes, zucchini, cauliflower, carrots, broccoli and others. Raw vegetables should be avoided. Ripe sweet fruits and berries in the form of fruit puree, sours, compotes, jellies. Soft-boiled eggs or in the form of an omelet on steam. A little dried white bread", - added the expert.

At the same time, she noted that outside the exacerbation of gastritis in the diet should not be very severe restrictions. The menu should be varied, should not starve. It is important to eat small portions four to five times a day, so that the stomach is not overloaded.

"We keep gentle processing of food, that is, stewing, boiling and baking remain the main methods of cooking and outside the exacerbation of gastritis. Also try to avoid fried, fatty, pickled, smoked and spicy. We continue to eat everything in a warm form," - noted Butenko.
