How to receive maternity capital in 2025

Maternity capital is one of the support measures for families with children and is paid after the birth or adoption of a child. Every year its amount is indexed in line with inflation. "Izvestia" tells how to get maternity capital and what is the size of the payment in 2025.

Who is entitled to maternity capital

Initially, the maternity capital could be received by families at the birth of the second and next children after January 1, 2007. Currently, the certificate can be issued after the birth or adoption of the firstborn child born from 2020.

In this case, the child must have Russian citizenship at birth, and in his certificate there is a corresponding stamp. This norm has been in force since the beginning of 2024.

The recipient must also be a Russian citizen at the time of addition to the family. The second parent's citizenship can be of any nationality. Residents of new regions are enough to have Russian citizenship at the time of issuance of the certificate.

The payment is assigned to the mother, the father of the child can also take advantage of the right to a measure of state support in exceptional cases.

How to get maternity capital

It is not necessary to specially execute the certificate. Information is automatically received by the Social Fund of Russia (SFR) after the registration of the child in the registry office.

The electronic version of the certificate is then sent to the personal cabinet on "Gosuslugi". There you can also check the balance of funds.

If for some reason the payment is not assigned, it is necessary to submit an application through "Gosuslugi", apply to the MFC or a territorial body of the SFD. The application must be accompanied by a document confirming the birth or adoption of a child and your passport.

The amount of maternity capital in 2025

Annually, the amount of the payment is indexed from February 1. In 2025, the maternity capital will be indexed by 7.3%. The amount for the first child will increase to 690 thousand rubles, and for the second - to 217 thousand rubles. Thus, the total amount of maternity capital will amount to Br912 thousand. This is almost Br80 thousand more than in 2024.

These funds can be used simultaneously for several purposes in full or in part. For example, part of the money can be spent on improving housing conditions, and part - on the education of the child. Also, the matkapital can be spent on the funded pension of one of the parents.

However, the payment can be used not earlier than three years after the birth of the child. Except for the payment of the down payment for a mortgage, the purchase of goods and services for disabled children, as well as a monthly payment for low-income families.

It is also impossible to cash out the funds. But it is allowed to withdraw the balance of no more than 10 thousand rubles, it can be received as a lump sum payment.
