The first bananas grown in Russia may be introduced by the end of 2025. This was announced on January 24 by Andrey Platonov, Director General of the Association for the Development of Subtropical Agriculture, at the final forum on the Development of Small Agribusiness in Russia.

"There is a program, we are implementing it. If everything goes well, by the end of this year we will show you bananas grown in Russia," he said.Platonov clarified that at the moment the process of laying the greenhouse has already been launched, writes "Газета.Ru».

In turn, Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut stressed that Russia was interested in Kazakhstan's experience in banana cultivation, and therefore the country could apply similar technologies. According to her, there is nothing surprising in their cultivation in Russia, as long as it is economically profitable.

Earlier, on November 26 last year, Lut reported on the discussion in the department the issue of banana cultivation on the territory of the Russian Federation. She noted that in Kazakhstan, the fruit is already grown in greenhouses. Then she pointed out that the purchase of bananas in Ecuador is still cheaper than creating conditions in the Russian Federation.

At the same time, on October 30, Marianela Ubilla, vice president of the Association of Banana Exporters of Ecuador (AEBE), said that Russia had reduced banana imports from Ecuador to 776,000 tons in the first eight months of 2024, which is href="https://iz.ru/1782496/2024-10-30/rossiia-rezko-sokratila-vvoz-bananov-iz-ekvadora-do-minimuma-s-2012-goda"> the lowest level since 2012.
