Russians told how they celebrate Student Day


Only 43% of the surveyed Russians during their higher education celebrate or have celebrated Student Day, which is celebrated in the country on January 25. At the same time, 57% do not consider this date to be special, according to the results of a survey by the educational platform Netology, which were reviewed by Izvestia. Respondents told what they do on this day and how they congratulate fellow students.
Among those who celebrate, the most common way to celebrate this day is to go with classmates to a cafe, movie, skating rink or other entertainment places (63%). In addition, 48% of respondents participated in creative events organized by the university or college on this day, and 20% stayed at the educational institution for the sake of joint meetings with classmates. The share of those who celebrated the Day of Russian Studenthood as a whole group together with their favorite teachers was 15%. Some respondents shared that they arranged parties in the dormitory, organized festive parties at home with family and friends.
At the same time, 13% of respondents sometimes give gifts depending on their mood and workload during the winter session. The share of those who always make surprises on the main holiday of students amounted to 6%. And 81% of respondents are not accustomed to exchanging gifts on the 25th day.
Recipients of gifts for Student Day are most often students' classmates (71%), their friends and girlfriends (44%), as well as relatives (17%). Teachers are not ignored either: 47% congratulate them on the holiday.
The most common way to please relatives or teachers on this day is to give candy or chocolate - this option was chosen by almost 70% of respondents. Other options include flowers (45%), books (32%), a card (26%), stationery (22%) and a gift certificate (21%). At the same time, some current and former students pleased those involved in the holiday with non-material gifts - 16% prepared creative numbers, 7% recorded creative video greetings.
Earlier, in mid-October 2024, it was reported that almost half (48%) of Russian college and university students combine study and work. These are the results of the survey of the NIFI project of the Russian Ministry of Finance "Moifinance.rf". At the same time, 77% of students plan either to continue combining work and study or to start doing so in the future. 61% of respondents believe that such a behavioral scenario is both a financial necessity and a way to gain professional experience.
