The number of Chinese cars on the secondary market has increased in Russia


So, since the beginning of the full-scale expansion of Chinese brands in 2022, the number of ads for the sale of such cars on the platform has increased fourfold on average per day throughout Russia and sixfold in Moscow by January 2025, the specialist said.
The total share of Chinese cars in the used car market is still insignificant — 6%. However, in the category of used cars under five years old, Chinese cars already occupy 21%, second only to German (22%). Two years ago, this figure was only 4%, in January 2024 it was 18%. As the owners upgrade their cars, the share of Chinese cars in the secondary market will continue to grow, the expert is sure.
The day before, car dealers explained the difference in the price of a car in China and Russia. So, if in China the price of a car is 900 thousand rubles, then after import to Russia its value is increases to 2.56 million rubles for the end customer. For example, the price of the Jetta VA3 sedan in China is only 35% of its cost in Russia.
Also on Thursday, Alexey Podshchekoldin, president of the ROAD, stated that the availability of a new car has decreased in Russia. Over the past 10 years, despite the increase in the average salary by more than half, it takes longer to save for the purchase of a passenger car.
