Former Minister of Energy and Housing of the Sverdlovsk Region arrested in bribery case

Leninsky district court of Yekaterinburg has sent former Minister of Energy and Housing of the Sverdlovsk region Nikolai Smirnov under arrest in the case of bribery. This was reported in the Sverdlovsk regional court on January 24.

"The measure of restraint in the form of detention elected until March 17, 2025," - stated in a message in the Telegram-channel.

Smirnov is accused under part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receipt of a bribe").

Earlier, on January 14, the St. Petersburg City Court upheld the sentence of the former vice-governor of the Leningrad region Mikhail Moskvin, found guilty of taking a bribe of 8.5 million rubles. In October 2024, he was sentenced to four years' imprisonment in a penal colony.
