Fraudsters are sending malicious software to Telegram, with the help of which a virus infection occurs, which leads to the reading of messages and push notifications. This was reported on Friday, January 24, by the department for organizing the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

It is noted that the mailing is aimed at different categories of citizens.

"When opening the file, the application is installed, after which the device can be infected with the Mamont trojan that reads push notifications, SMS messages and photos from the gallery," the department noted in Telegram.

On January 22, the agency stressed the importance of updating devices to prevent hacking. The Interior Ministry's CBP recalled the WannaCry virus, which exploited a vulnerability in the Windows operating system in 2017.
