Pamfilova praised the organization of early voting at the elections in Belarus

The organization of the presidential election in Belarus is in compliance with the legislation, the polling stations are perfectly prepared for free expression of will of people. This was stated by Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation Ella Pamfilova, who arrived in Minsk as an observer, on January 24.

"I have no right to give an assessment of the elections, which are underway. International observers will give their assessments based on the results. But according to the results [of the first day], all the norms in accordance with the laws of Belarus on the preparation of the campaign are in compliance with the legislation, everything is well organized," said Pamfilova. She noted that the voter turnout at the early voting, as she was informed by other observers, is high. In the near future, the head of the CEC herself intends to visit several polling stations to see for herself.

"Colleagues who have now observed early voting also speak about the high turnout, the polling stations are perfectly prepared. The work is very well organized, so that the citizens of Belarus could calmly come and express their will. Everything has been done for this purpose, as far as possible in the difficult current conditions," said the head of the CEC.

Prior to that, January 23, chairman of the CEC of Belarus Igor Karpenko said that the Commission had not yet received complaints or reports of violations at polling stations during early voting in the presidential election.

Presidential elections in Belarus are scheduled for January 26, 2025. January 21, early voting started. The candidates for the presidential election in Belarus are the current leader of the country Alexander Lukashenko, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich, MP Anna Kanopatskaya, leader of the Belarusian Communists Sergei Syrankov and leader of the Party of Labor and Justice Alexander Khizhnyak.
