In Russia, more than 95% of agricultural industry participants are representatives of small businesses. This was announced by Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut at the forum "Development of Small Agribusiness in Russia" on January 24.

"This is a huge driving force for us, for our food security, for our citizens, whom we must provide with food," she said.

According to Lut, there are more than 160,000 registered peasant (farm) farms and more than 17 million private subsidiary farms in Russia. Now the farming community accounts for the production of about 29% of grain crops, as well as 70-75% in vegetables and potatoes, and the share of sugar beet (12%) and sunflower (39%) is growing.

In addition, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture pointed to the growing support for the production of fruits and berries, noting that this is a good niche for small businesses. Lut added that it was possible to maintain support measures at the level of Br15 billion in 2025.

Earlier, on January 15, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture together with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Central African Republic Gismala Hamza signed a memorandum in the field of agriculture. During the meeting they discussed the development of bilateral trade, as well as cooperation in science and technology, breeding and seed production.
