The Kremlin said it was necessary to resume disarmament talks with the US

Russia considers it necessary to resume disarmament talks with the United States as soon as possible, undermined by the U.S. side, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on January 24.
"I want to remind you in this connection of [Russian President Vladimir] Putin's statement that Russia considers it necessary to resume disarmament talks as soon as possible. Especially since the legal and treaty basis in the sphere of arms control has been significantly undermined. And not through the fault of the Russian Federation, but the United States, in fact, completed its participation and undermined in fact the existence of this treaty-legal base," he said at a briefing, commenting on US President Donald Trump's words about the need to reduce nuclear arsenals.
Earlier, on January 23, Trump said in an interview with Fox News that he was close to reaching an agreement on reducing nuclear arsenals with Russia during the end of his last presidential term.
