Happy Student Day: congratulations in your own words, funny pictures

Student Day in our country is celebrated annually on January 25. This is a major holiday that marks the end of the winter session and is accompanied by mass festivities. In 2025, the date falls on Saturday. Especially for the celebration, Izvestia prepared beautiful cards and congratulations that can be shared on the holiday.
How Student's Day is connected with the holiday Tatiana's Day
Students got their own holiday day thanks to Empress Elizabeth Petrovna. At the end of January 1755, she signed a decree on the establishment of the Imperial Moscow University - the first higher educational institution in Russia, which since the middle of the last century is called the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Lomonosov Moscow State University. In 2025, the 270th anniversary of its foundation is celebrated.
Russian scientist Mikhail Lomonosov, whose name the university now bears, and the Empress's favorite statesman and philanthropist Ivan Shuvalov worked on the creation of the university. The project was approved on the day of commemoration of the holy martyr Tatiana of Rome (Kreschenskaya), which was the name day of Shuvalov's mother Tatiana Ratislavskaya.
The people called this church holiday Tatiana's Day, which gave a double name to the celebration. St. Tatiana became considered the patroness of students. It is to her they turn for help in their studies and before passing the session. On the territory of Moscow State University even works house temple, named in honor of the saint. Among its first parishioners were Fonvizin, Griboyedov, Turgenev, Timiryazev, Pirogov and Klyuchevsky.
Initially, January 25 was celebrated only as the birthday of the university. But thanks to Emperor Nicholas I the holiday became common for all higher educational institutions of the Russian Empire. It was celebrated noisily, in the "Petrine style": with illuminations and fireworks. Barrels of mead were rolled out onto the streets, serving the drink to students. This tradition still exists today.
In Soviet times, the celebration was not widely spread. For some time there was the Day of Proletarian Studenthood. But more popular was the International Students' Day, established in 1941 at an international meeting of students from countries that fought against fascism.
The holiday became official in 2005, when President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on celebrating the Day of Russian Students, or abbreviated - the Day of the Student.
