- Trump says he is capable of reaching a denuclearization agreement with Russian Federation

American leader Donald Trump expressed confidence that he could reach an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the denuclearization of the two countries. The US President said this in an interview with the Fox News TV channel.
"We would like to see denuclearization. In fact, with President Putin, before the results of [last] election, we talked about denuclearization of our two countries, and China would join," Trump said.
He also expressed the opinion that he was very close to making a deal, Gazeta.Ru adds .
On the eve of Trump, speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, noted that the US is ready to consider nuclear disarmament only if Russia and China also decide to eliminate it.
Prior to that, on October 14, 2024, former US leader Joe Biden said that Washington was ready to hold talks with Moscow, Beijing and Pyongyang on reducing the nuclear arsenal in order to reduce the risks of a theoretical threat.
Putin said as early as September 25 that the foundations of state policy in the field of nuclear deterrence need to be adapted to modern realities. Thus, aggression against Russia by any non-nuclear state with the participation or support of a nuclear state is proposed to be considered as a joint attack. The conditions for Russia's transition to the use of nuclear weapons are also clearly fixed, the Russian leader said at the time.
