The Office of the Prosecutor General of Berlin in court accused a woman who participated in the illegal sale of real estate on behalf of the Russian Federation in the Berlin district of Lichtenberg in 2021-2022. This is reported on January 23 on the website of the agency.

The press release states that the 59-year-old woman is accused of five cases of document forgery by a group of persons, three cases of preparation and two cases of committing fraud on a large scale.

"It is reported that she found from an accomplice suitable real estate belonging to Russia, located in Berlin and not actually used. They then organized the outflow of proceeds from the transaction and forged the documents necessary for the sale, in particular the alleged powers of attorney from the 'administration of the President of the Russian Federation,'" the statement reads.

The Spiegel publication notes that the woman's name is Olena and she was posing as an FSB employee.

Earlier, on August 19, 2024, Oleg Tyapkin, director of the Third European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that in case the German authorities seize Russian real estate in Berlin, Russia will respond adequately to these actions.

Before that, the regional branch of the opposition Christian Democratic Union party in Berlin announced the sale of Russian real estate in the German capital in order to send the money received to help Ukraine.
