Degtyarev urged sports federations to work actively on international competitions in Russia

Sports federations need to be more active in holding international competitions on the territory of Russia. This was stated on Thursday, January 23, by Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC).

"We need to be ready for everything to normalize tomorrow. And I would like <...> to get a consolidated plan until 2038 already on the decisions made on world championships and other international competitions in this or that sport. <...> We will prepare for it, some federations have made progress here," - said the Minister at a meeting in the ROC with representatives of Olympic sports federations.

In addition, Degtyarev emphasized that the interaction between the Ministry of Sport, the Russian Olympic Committee and sports federations is reaching a new level, pointing out that each federation should interact more openly with the Ministry of Sport and the ROC.

The Minister also pointed out the importance of responsible management of federations, including the development of sports, work with finances, search for sponsors and inventory of available resources. He also touched on the issue of ethics in the media.

"Some statements can be detrimental to the entire industry. Let's act under the auspices of the press service of the Olympic Committee," Degtyarev appealed to the participants of the meeting.

At the end of the event, the Sports Minister emphasized the importance of a comprehensive approach to the development of the industry. He stressed that the forthcoming state program should take into account funds from various sources: public, private and regional.

In November last year Degtyarev said that Russia and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had converged in their views on the participation of Russian athletes in competitions. He specified that the dialogue with representatives of the organization is conducted in a non-public format through various channels. The minister himself meets with the committee officials. Degtyarev reminded that the recommendations to allow Russians to participate in neutral status are illegal.
