Director Munkuev pointed out the importance for Russian cinema of Borisov's Oscar nomination

The nomination of Russian actor Yury Borisov for the Oscar award is an important event for the entire film industry of the Russian Federation. Vladimir Munkuev, co-director of the film "Summer Will End" with the nominee in the title role, told Izvestia on January 23.

"It seems to me that this is not only for Yura, but for our entire industry a very important event. It's an indicator of how talent, perseverance and hard work can break through all boundaries. <...> This is a very joyful event. I am very happy for the guys because they deserve it, it is very inspiring," he said.

Borisov's nomination was announced earlier in the day. Thanks to his role in the movie "Anora" he will compete for the Oscar in the Best Supporting Actor category with Guy Pearce, Edward Norton, Kieran Culkin and Jeremy Strong.

Actress Victoria Isakova also shared her joy. She played with Borisov in the movie "One Hundred Years To Go".

"This is amazing! I congratulate Yura. It is both a huge luck and wonderful that the brilliant artist Yura Borisov was appreciated on merit," she said.

Earlier, January 3, Yura Borisov and actor Mark Eidelstein were nominated for the main British film award BAFTA for the film "Anora". "Anora" also received nominations in the categories of "Best Film (Musical/Comedy)", "Best Screenplay in a Movie".
