In "Vasily" hero Alexander Petrov goes to Mexico to save his twin, the role of which he also performed, and in the Korean thriller "Normal Family" two relatives need to solve a difficult moral dilemma. Viewers are also waiting for Steven Soderbergh's first horror "Presence", the Turkish remake of "Holop" with the star of the series "Knock on my door" Kerem Bursin and ironic detective Francois Ozon "What Happened in the Fall". "Izvestia" - about what to watch in the movies in the coming weekend.

"Vasily" 16 +

Directed by Dmitry Litvinenko

Starring: Alexander Petrov, Dmitry Lysenkov, Jan Tsapnik, Barbara de Rehil, Valentina Mazunina.

Vasily - a modest OBJ teacher from the village of Kovylkino, who has a twin brother, about whom he tries not to remember. Kolya, also known as Basil, as a child adopted by a family from the United States. Both roles were played by Alexander Petrov. Now Vasily learns that his brother is sitting in a Mexican prison, in parallel threw the local drug cartel for a lot of money and deceived the jealous beauty Bonita. Despite the fact that the connection between the brothers was broken in childhood, it is Vasily goes to Mexico to save a foolish relative and now to pretend to be him.

The director of "Vasily" was Dmitry Litvinenko. For the director of the series "Give show" and "Nina" is the first experience in full meter. Filming took place in Russia and Mexico, and in the most dangerous areas of the latter. In addition to Petrov, in two roles in "Vasily" also starred Jan Tsapnik, Dmitry Lysenkov, Valentina Mazunina, and fatal Bonita played Mexican actress Barbara de Rehil. About what it was like for a Mexican woman to learn lines in Russian, you can read in her interview with "Izvestia".

"Presence" 18+

Directed by: Steven Soderbergh

Starring: Lucy Liu, Julia Fox, Chris Sullivan, Callina Liang.

Steven Soderbergh never turns down an opportunity to experiment in film, whether it's shooting movies on 16mm film or on an iPhone camera. "The Presence" - the first horror in the career of the American director and his second joint project with screenwriter David Koepp.

The plot of their new movie seems horribly predictable: a family moves into a new house, where the inexplicable soon begins to happen. Only the teenage daughter, who is still reeling from the death of her best friend, sees and feels it, of course. Parents expectantly write off her behavior to stress and think of changing her therapist. The mother and father pay more attention to their second and less problematic child, a champion swimmer who also keeps apart from her sister. Literally, it all sounds like the beginning of every other horror movie, but there's nothing familiar about the way Soderbergh shot it.

"The Presence" we see entirely through the eyes of the ghost himself. Hypnotic long takes, mesmerizing angles and nervous camera movements, with Soderbergh himself traditionally behind the camera. Presented at the Sundance Film Festival a year ago, the picture is rated highly by critics, but still inclined to the fact that it is more of a family drama than a horror.

"What Happened in the Fall" 18+

Directed by: François Ozon

Starring Hélène Vincent, Josiane Balasco, Ludivine Sanier, Pierre Lottin

Soderbergh's French colleague François Ozon is also experimenting with formats. "What Happened in the Fall" - and family drama, ironic thriller, and detective. Sleepy picturesque village in Burgundy and seemingly at first glance exemplary grandmother protagonist Michelle. She played a famous French theater actress, 81-year-old Hélène Vincent.

Her Michelle meets her daughter Valerie and her son who came on vacation from the capital, but hopes for a pleasant vacation with her beloved grandson collapses right at the first family meal. "To fix" uneasy relations between daughter and mother decides the son of the neighbor Michel, who has just been released from prison. True, the result is a mysterious fall of Valerie from the balcony. On why this unusual picture, released in the Russian hire, deserves the attention of not only connoisseurs of festival cinema - in the review "Izvestia".

"Holop. The Magnificent Century" 16 +

Director: Onur Unlu

Starring: Kerem Bursin, Melis Sezen, Erkan Kolcak Köstendil, Melisa Döngel

The Russian franchise "Kholop" continues to wander the world. Following the French adaptation of the comedy Klima Shipenko comes out Turkish. The plot of "The Magnificent Century" is almost identical to the original, only this time a spoiled major from Istanbul is sent for a harsh re-education in the Ottoman Empire. Here he is not the son of influential and rich people, and a simple stable boy at the court of Sultan Suleiman.

Fans of Turkish TV series will appreciate the new "Holop" doubly, because the Istanbul version of the major Grisha named Mete played by Kerem Bursin - aka Serkan Bolat from the most popular series "Knock on my door. The performer of the main role in an interview with the portal "Kino-Theater.ru" admitted that the dynamics of the plot is so ingenious that absolutely any country can adapt "Kholop". In 2023, a Mongolian remake of the comedy was released, and the rights to adaptation have been sold to several other countries.

"Normal Family" 18+

Directed by: Ho Jin-ho

Starring Seol Kyung-gu, Jang Dong-gon, Kim Hee-ae, Claudia Kim.

Crime drama based on the best-selling novel "Dinner" by Dutch writer Herman Koch. The Korean adaptation is the fourth after a movie based on Koch's novel was made in the Netherlands, Italy and the United States. The latter, starring Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Rebecca Hall and Chloë Sevigny, could have been Cate Blanchett's directorial debut, but it didn't work out and the film was directed by screenwriter Oren Moverman.

In the center of the new story is still the same two brothers. One - a famous and mercantile lawyer Chae-wan, the second - a pediatrician Chae-gyu with high moral principles. Both of them have children who are involved in a serious crime. The brothers, whose relationship between them can be called cool even with a stretch, meet together with their wives for dinner, which turns into a moral dilemma. Should they cover all their tracks or tell people the truth so that their children will suffer the punishment they deserve? The two brothers disagree on the fate of their children, which becomes nothing less than a tragedy.
