Forecaster predicts spring weather in Moscow only in April

Spring will come to Moscow only in April, and frosts will return to the capital in February. This was reported by Anatoly Tsygankov, Head of the Crisis Management Department of Roshydromet on Thursday, January 23.
In conversation with the agency of city news "Moscow" the expert noted that at present the average daily temperature is absolutely not spring. In February and March, thermometer columns will fall to -15 degrees.
"According to long-term data, there has not yet been such a thing that came thaw in January, and there was no frost after that. This year spring weather will not come before April," Tsygankov emphasized.
According to him, snow is also expected in February, and March is considered a winter month in terms of climate, writes kp.ru.
Earlier on January 23, the Ministry of Ecology and Nature Management of the Moscow region reported that the January thaw caused an early awakening of ticks in the region. Pet owners began to notice insects on the hair of dogs. January weather in the Moscow region did not meet climatic norms, 360.ru reported.
On January 22, the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand said that January 2025 in Moscow may become the second warmest in the history of meteorological observations. So far, January 2020 is considered to be the warmest.
The season of tick activity in Russia in 2025 may begin earlier than usual. Rospotrebnadzor reported that in 2014 winter was warm and snowy, already from February 12 regularly recorded positive temperatures during the day, and because of this season of ticks started in mid-March, not in the second half of April. In 20255, the situation may repeat, reports NSN.
January 14, Roman Vilfand said that most Russian regions are not expected January frosts. The air temperature will exceed the norm, notes IA Regnum.
