Media reported about half a million illegal migrants living in London

In the capital of Great Britain, London, every 12th resident is an illegal migrant. This was reported on January 23 by the British newspaper Daily Mail with reference to sources.

It is noted that the study by Edge Analytics found out that 390 thousand to 585 thousand illegal migrants live in London. Thus, most of them arrived in the UK on work, study or visitor visas, which then expired.

In addition, the edition cites the report of The Daily Telegraph, according to which more than a million of such migrants live in the UK, with 60% of them staying in the capital.

As the newspaper specified, the British Interior Ministry does not share data on the number of illegal migrants in the country.

"It is completely unacceptable to have such a number of illegal immigrants in the UK," the newspaper quotes the words of the chief secretary of the Ministry of Finance of the country Chris Philp.

Earlier, on November 18, 2024, it was reported that the UK government may be in talks with Turkey, Vietnam and officials in the Kurdistan region of Iraq about possible payments to help slow the flow of illegal migrants into the United Kingdom.
