Ex-head of Stavropol police department given eight years in prison for bribery
The former head of the Stavropol police department was sentenced to eight years in a strict regime colony in a case of bribery. This was reported on January 23 by the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR) in the region.
It is specified that in July 2023 in the police department was checked on the case of infliction of serious harm to health and robbery committed by a woman. She appealed to an acquaintance of the head of the department with a request to help mitigate the punishment. He agreed to become an accomplice and received 100,000 rubles from her, part of which he gave to his superior. Then he said that in order to stop the inspection it was necessary to pay another 2.55 million rubles.
"As part of the operational experiment, the woman through an intermediary passed the bribe to the head of the police department. After the transfer of funds, the intermediary was detained by operative officers of the regional departments of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia", - stated on the website of the agency.
In addition, according to the Investigative Committee, in September 2021, the policeman offered his acquaintance for 2 million 100 thousand rubles to solve the issue of not bringing her to criminal responsibility for embezzlement of funds from the organization. He used the money received at his discretion.
The defendants in the case were arrested. The ex-head of the police department, in addition to eight years in prison, was fined 13 million 250 thousand rubles, as well as banned from holding positions related to the functions of a representative of authority for a period of 12 years.
The mediator was sentenced to nine years of colony and fined Br13 million 500 thousand.
Earlier, January 21, a criminal case was initiated against the former deputy chief of the Kirov region Department of Internal Affairs. According to investigators, the defendant received a bribe in the form of a car from a representative of a joint-stock company, the rental value of which amounted to 700 thousand rubles from November to December 2023.
In addition, he gave his subordinate knowingly unlawful instructions to conduct vocational aptitude tests for employees, which were not actually conducted.
Later, on January 22, the ex-deputy chief of the Department of Internal Affairs was taken into custody. The investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
