The expert pointed out the importance of treating pets against ticks even in winter

Animal owners need to take measures to prevent pets from ticks even in the winter season. Igor Glamazdin, Professor, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, Director of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise and Agrosafety of the ROSBIOTECH University, told about it on January 23.
"A warm winter can indeed have a significant impact on tick activity. In conditions when the temperature does not fall below zero, ticks can come out of the state of anabiosis and actively seek hosts for their sustenance," he said in a conversation with RT TV channel.
In this regard, pet owners should take measures to prevent diseases carried by ticks in winter. Among such dangerous diseases are tick-borne encephalitis, Lyme disease, anaplasmosis and babesiosis, the doctor said.
Thus, according to the expert, in the last few years there has been a tendency to increase the number of ticks in urban forest parks in the warm periods of winter.
Glamazdin reminded that timely measures are necessary to ensure the health of both the pet and its owner.
On the eve, January 22, the president of the Russian Cynological Federation Vladimir Golubev told whether it is necessary to revise the principles of feeding a dog in the cold, and gave some advice. So, according to him, the metabolic processes in pets do not change due to the warm apartment content, so there is no need to change something in the dog's diet.
