A sedentary lifestyle has a devastating effect on human health. And the secret of maintaining good health after 40 years in movement, told "Izvestia" January 24 head of the European Gymnastics Center Ilya Sidorov.

"Physical exercise has a positive effect on all physiological processes occurring in the human body: from strengthening bones to preventing the development of heart attack and stroke," he noted.

The expert emphasized that the main idea of fitness after 40 is all-round development consisting of four essential components: flexibility training, balance improvement, aerobic and strength exercises.

"Sports gymnastics, unlike the usual fitness, is an effective method of complex training, including strength and cardio exercises together with the performance of complex coordination exercises. There are a lot of different exercises in this sport, which can be adapted to any age," Sidorov said.

The expert noted that many people perceive gymnastics as a difficult and traumatic sport, available only to professional athletes. According to him, it can be practiced by absolutely everyone.

"From the age of 40, muscle fibers begin to be rapidly replaced by fatty tissue. And to prevent this process, you need to constantly perform strength exercises with your own weight. Strong musculature is the basis of our body: it strengthens the whole body, fixes joints and helps a person to be mobile," Sidorov added.

He also emphasized that in adulthood it is necessary to monitor the elasticity of tissues and pay attention to stretching. Muscles and tendons, the expert reminded, have the property to quickly harden and shorten in length, and clamped, they become very fragile.

"You need to regularly perform stretching exercises for all muscle groups: shoulder girdle, neck, back, hips and ankles, legs. This speeds up their work, reduces the risk of injury and relieves pain in muscles and joints. Also harmonious stretching is equivalent to massage: it relieves tension from the whole body and eliminates stress", - explained the head of the European Gymnastics Center.

At the same time, cardio training gives a person physical strength, energy and increases the emotional background. They are also attractive for those who do not like monotonous exercises.

"In gymnastics, cardio-loads can be performed at a calm heart rate on various gymnastic equipment: inflatable acrobatic track, bar, rings, parallel bars, Swedish wall," said Sidorov.

According to the expert, after 40 years it is necessary to work on movement coordination and balance.

"In gymnastics there is a huge number of exercises of any level of complexity: jumps, rolls, flips, somersaults, elements on the beam, bars, rings and crossbar. According to scientists, gymnasts and acrobats live at least 10 years longer, because rotations slow down the aging process of the brain and the whole body. And coordination movements relieve stress," he added.

Intensive training gives a powerful release of various hormones affecting the well-being and mood of a person and gives him energy, Sidorov concluded.

Earlier, on November 21, senior trainer of the international network of ballet and stretching studios LEVITA Akulina Bakhturina told "Izvestia" that with proper work with the bark muscles can not only improve the stabilization of the body, but also to form a beautiful posture, ideal silhouette, to get a more noticeable and natural relief. Emphasis on working these muscles also helps to reduce discomfort and pain in the back, lumbar spine.
