Law enforcement authorities have stopped the activities of participants of a criminal group, who sold counterfeit medicines in pharmacies. This was reported on January 23 by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia (Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia) in Moscow.

It is specified that in 2023, the defendants entered into a criminal conspiracy and purchased counterfeit drugs abroad, importing them into Russia.

"Continuing the realization of criminal intent, the accused among the employees of one of the capital's pharmaceutical firms illegally sold unregistered medicines in the amount of more than 100 thousand rubles," - stated on the website of the agency.

A criminal case under part 2 of article 238.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Sale of substandard and unregistered medical devices, committed on a large scale") was initiated on this fact. Law enforcers seized counterfeit drugs with a total value of more than 10 million rubles. As part of the investigation, five people were detained and charged.

Earlier, on December 4, 2024, officers of the Department of the Federal Security Service (FSSB) of Russia in Kherson region stopped an attempt to counterfeit and unlabeled tobacco products on a particularly large scale. a man under the guise of an individual entrepreneur was selling large batches of counterfeit tobacco products. In the course of search activities law enforcement agencies found more than 189 thousand packs of products without excise stamps. Their total value is more than 24 million rubles. A criminal case has been initiated.
