Sobyanin called Moscow a leader in reducing crime rates

In recent years, Moscow has recorded a tenfold decrease in the number of such crimes as robberies, thefts, robberies and motor vehicle thefts. This was stated by the mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin, who took part in an extended meeting of the board of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow. The mayor noted that the metropolis is a leader not only among all Russian cities, but also among most cities in the world in terms of crime reduction.

The mayor pointed out that the past year was not easy for Moscow as a whole, and for the capital's police department, in particular, against the background of growing terrorist threats emanating from Ukraine, as indicated in the material on the mos.ru portal. In addition, against the background of the recovery of tourist traffic in Moscow millions of guests come to Moscow, including during the winter holidays. "Despite this, all New Year's holidays passed without any serious accidents. This is, of course, a great merit of the Moscow police," Sobyanin emphasized.

The mayor promised that the capital will continue to provide active assistance in the development of the material base of the regional branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Sobyanin also spoke about the application of new legislation in the field of migration, mentioning the ongoing experiment on full biometric control of foreigners in the Moscow region. "To date, about 900 thousand foreign citizens have already passed through this control, who have left fingerprints, photos. And we now know exactly who entered and who left through our transportation hub. Who of these citizens has registered and who has not registered. That is, we can already work with them more clearly and substantially", - emphasized the mayor.

Sobyanin spoke in favor of increasing the efficiency of work with migrants using new technologies. According to him, it is necessary "to establish this work within a year, so that all investments, all information resources, which we aimed at this work, were realized, used as effectively as possible".
