The State Duma has introduced a bill to ban advertising of tarotologists' services

Andrei Svintsov (LDPR), deputy head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, has submitted a bill to parliament to ban advertising of tarotologists' services. It is also proposed to develop mechanisms to identify and block websites containing such information. The corresponding document was published on January 23 in the Duma electronic base.

"The draft federal law "On amendments to certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation, aimed at banning advertising of esoteric services "tarotologist services" and the development of mechanisms for identifying and blocking resources containing offers to provide such services" (hereinafter - the bill) is introduced in order to protect society from the negative impact of the activities of "tarologists", - stated in the explanatory note.

It is noted that the tarotologist with the help of Tarot cards manipulates a person, predicting the future or analyzing already existing life situations, after which he gives him recommendations in various directions. These services, based on the moral and ethical norms of modern society, belong to the category of fictions, emphasized the author of the initiative.

According to the document, the majority of Russians consider the activities of tarologists fraudulent. The changes should contribute to reducing the popularity of the services of such "specialists" to protect Russians from the negative consequences on physical and mental health, which entails the activities of tarologists.

Earlier, on November 24, 2024, it was reported that a woman in Moscow paid a false sorceress more than 280 thousand rubles under the pretext of removing spoilage. The attacker, posing as a tarologist and met with a 45-year-old woman on one of the Internet sites, after which she convinced the Muscovite that she had a spoilage, and insisted on special rituals.

Before that, on November 15, the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) reported that fortune-telling on Tarot cards is a pseudoscience, and tarotologists are fraudsters who take advantage of people's vulnerability in difficult situations. It added that there is no scientific substantiation of the reality of such actions. The effect is to psychologically subjugate another person and impose a service on him.
