The Defense Ministry showed footage of the Russian Armed Forces fighting during the liberation of Solyonoye in the DNR

On January 23, the Russian Defense Ministry published footage of combat operations by units of the Center group of troops during the liberation of the village of Solenoye in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).

During the offensive, the assault units destroyed enemy firing points and command and observation posts with the help of attack drones. In addition, the Russian Armed Forces (AF) used artillery calculations to eliminate the exposed positions of Ukrainian soldiers.

The attack drones subsequently cleared houses and structures of the remaining soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) unit.

The Defense Ministry noted that the military grouping of the Center troops successfully conducted combat battles against the AFU, liberating settlements, reinforcing the positions of the Russian army, capturing trophies and taking Ukrainian soldiers prisoner.

The liberation of the locality of Solenoye in the DNR became known earlier in the day

The day before, the Russian army liberated the settlement of Zapadnoye in Kharkiv region. On Monday, January 20, the settlements of Shevchenko in the DNR and Novoegorovka in the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) were liberated.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
