Dealers explained the difference in car price in China and Russia

If the price of a car in China is 900 thousand rubles, then after importing it to Russia, its cost for the end buyer rises to 2.56 million rubles. Alexei Podshchekoldin, President of the Association "Russian Automobile Dealers" (ROAD), told about it, as Izvestia correspondent reports from the press conference on January 23.

Podshchekoldin explained the price of an imported car on the example of the Chinese sedan Jetta VA3 from January 1, 2025. The price of this car in the PRC (Br900 thousand) is only 35% of its cost in Russia.

Another 40% (Br1.03 million) is the customs duty (Br8.5 thousand), as well as customs duty (Br135 thousand), 20% VAT (Br209 thousand), excise duty (Br8.7 thousand) and recycling fee (Br667.4 thousand).

In addition, 14% of the car cost in Russia includes delivery (Br350 thousand), 6% - distributor's margin (Br160 thousand) and 5% - dealer's margin (Br120 thousand).

Also on this day, the president of ROAD Alexei Podshchekoldin said that the availability of a new car in Russia has decreased. Over the last 10 years, despite the average salary more than doubling, it takes longer to save up to buy a passenger car.
