None of the European countries is currently immune to external interference similar to the Ukrainian Maidan, but not everyone is taking measures to prevent such a scenario, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov has said on 23 January. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitriy Peskov, on 23 January.

Thus the official representative of the Kremlin commented on the statement of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo that foreign experts involved in the organization of the coup d'état in Ukraine are in the country.

"Our vis-a-vis in Slovakia can see better when they make such conclusions. And it is obvious that none of the countries, including those in Western Europe, in the current time is not immune from interference in their internal affairs," Peskov said at the briefing.

He noted that even the largest European countries have recently been able to experience examples of quite aggressive interference themselves.

"But the other thing is that some countries take decisive measures to combat such interference, and some countries patiently prefer to bear all the humiliation," he concluded.

Earlier, on January 21, Fitzo said at a joint press conference with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban that the Slovak opposition was preparing a "Maidan" in the country and this was being done as part of a long organized operation. The next day he said an emergency meeting of the Security Council would be held on January 23 because the country's intelligence services had received information about the risk of overthrowing the government. Slovak President Peter Pellegrini will also take part in it.

On January 19, the head of the Slovak government specified that a coup d'état on the scenario of Ukraine in the country is sought by the opposition party "Progressive Slovakia", and against this background the state is preparing for everything.

On the same day, Fitzo stressed that he did not plan to be a servant of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose powers expired on May 20, 2024. The prime minister added that he is ready to veto aid to Kiev from European Union (EU) countries because of the halt of Russian gas transit through Ukrainian territory.
