According to statistics, about 85% of people between 12 and 24 years old face acne, and self-treatment can lead to complications, including skin damage for several years. This was told on Thursday, January 23, dermatologist, trichologist "SM-Cosmetology" Sofia Belash.

According to her, acne comes in several types - with black dots (comedonal), with pustules (papulo-pustular) and with painful nodules that can leave scars (nodular or conglobate).

"It is important to note that acne belongs to a special group of diseases known as "psychosomatic dermatoses". Localization of rashes on exposed areas of the skin can lead to lower self-esteem, impaired social interactions and increased anxiety. In this case, the severity of acne does not always correlate with the level of stress: even single rashes can cause significant discomfort," - said Belash publication "Gazeta.Ru".

The dermatologist noted that self-treatment of acne, including removal, can lead to serious consequences that many underestimate. It can cause infection due to insufficient sterility, which leads to redness and purulent inflammation. It can also cause scarring and pigmentation that can remain on the skin for months or years and require expensive treatment.

"Modern acne removal methods used by cosmetic surgeons include various approaches to treating and preventing rashes. One of the main methods is mechanical facial cleansing, which removes impurities and excess sebum. Chemical peels using various acids help to exfoliate dead skin cells, smooth its relief and clean pores," she said.

Belash added that hardware phototherapy, which fights the bacteria that causes inflammation, is also effective for treating acne. Another good option is medications with retinoids and antibiotics for long-term control of the skin condition.

The doctor stressed the importance of professional acne treatment, as dermatologists and cosmetologists have the knowledge and techniques to develop customized programs that effectively get rid of acne and prevent scarring and pigmentation.

Earlier, on December 17, 2024, Natalia Tkachenko, cosmetic chemist and founder of the Roz Mary beauty brand, told Izvestia about the benefits of antioxidants in cosmetics. According to her, young skin needs antioxidants to preserve its youthfulness for longer, especially in urban conditions where the level of free radicals is high.
