- Patrushev names necessary conditions for Russia's technological sovereignty

Russia is actively working on import substitution to ensure technological sovereignty of the country. This statement was made on January 23 by Nikolay Patrushev, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Maritime Board, at the meeting on the issues of participation of the country's higher educational institutions in ensuring technological sovereignty in the field of shipbuilding.
He noted that import substitution is the first stage of ensuring the country's technological sovereignty, which will help meet the needs of the population and show sustainable development rates.
"However, many systemic problems that hinder the achievement of technological sovereignty have not yet been fully resolved. This applies primarily to the issues of creation and implementation of new domestic technologies," the Chairman of the Maritime Board said.
According to him, in order to achieve sovereignty in the field of technology, it is necessary to increase the number of scientists and engineers in the total workforce, so one of the priority tasks is to ensure quality training.
"It is also critical to reduce the timeframe for the development of new technology, to remove obstacles related to the peculiarities of certification procedures for the industrial introduction of new domestic technologies, to provide state support for the effective implementation of new technological solutions," Patrushev concluded.
Earlier, on January 15, Patrushev said at the ceremony of launching the first stage of Russia's first digital shipyard that the modernization of Onega Shipyard in Petrozavodsk is very promising.
