Russian Interior Ministry proposes to change the procedure for detaining drunk drivers

The Russian Interior Ministry has proposed to change the procedure for drawing up protocols when traffic inspectors detect drunk drivers. The draft federal law is undergoing a procedure of public discussion, as reported on the website of the State Automobile Inspectorate on January 23.
Now when detecting a driver with signs of intoxication it is necessary to draw up from three to five procedural documents. At the same time, drawing up a protocol on suspension from driving and a protocol on the detention of the vehicle in each case is mandatory.
However, according to the results of the analysis of law enforcement, drawing up these protocols in some cases seems redundant, said the Interior Ministry. Amendments to the CAO provide for both the drawing up of a separate protocol on suspension from driving and a protocol on the detention of the vehicle, and the possibility of marking the application of appropriate measures in other procedural documents.
"The development of the bill is due to the need to optimize the activities of authorized officials in terms of reducing the number of procedural documents," - said in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
The day before it was reported that the State Duma passed in the first reading of the government bill, which proposes to oblige operators of toll roads to notify drivers of the debt for the to ll through the portal "Gosuservices".
On January 21, the State Duma passed in the first reading a bill that proposes to allow the use of cars of individuals and organizations during counter-terrorism measures under the counter-terrorist operation regime.
