The number of large families in Russia increased by almost 250,000 over the year.
The number of families with many children in Russia has increased by almost 250 thousand over the year. This was reported on January 23 by Elena Semenova, Deputy Director of the Department of Demographic and Family Policy of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation.
"From July 1 [2024], the register of large families began to work. As of today, there are 2.646 million large families in the register," she said at a TASS press conference dedicated to summarizing the results for the first year of the presidential decree "On measures of social support for large families" and plans for 2025.
According to Semenova, there were 2.4 million families with many children as of January 1 of last year. Thus, the increase over the period amounted to about 250 thousand families. She called it a positive dynamics.
Semenova also noted that since October large families can get an electronic certificate through "Gosuservices". At the moment these documents have been issued more than 1 million. In addition, she reminded that large families can conclude a social contract as a priority, and specified that for 2024 they were concluded over 19.5%.
"Now we are carrying out together with our colleagues the work connected <...> with the possibility to receive services in various organizations on providing this electronic certificate, that is when providing a QR code, which can be uploaded in the personal cabinet at "Gosuslugi", - she added.
Earlier, on January 5, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs Svetlana Bessarab has informed that the amount of the maternal family capital will be increased in Russia from February 1. It is noted that the increase will occur in proportion to the percentage of inflation. The payment will amount to Br676 thousand for the first child, while for the second and subsequent - Br894 thousand, or Br217 thousand, if the family has previously received funds.
