US President Donald Trump said that the four years of the presidency of former US leader Joe Biden were hell for him because of the prosecution. He said this in an interview with Fox News on January 23.

"I went through four years of hell. I spent millions of dollars in legal fees and I won, but I went through it the hard way," Trump said.

Asked by a reporter whether he would like Biden to be investigated by the U.S. Congress, Trump said he would let the legislature decide that for itself.

Earlier, on January 8, The Washington Post reported that a U.S. court temporarily blocked the publication of a report on the results of investigations into the country's president, prepared by special prosecutor Jack Smith. Politico reported on Jan. 11 that Smith had resigned.

At the end of May 2024, Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts in the financial forgery case. He faced 136 years in prison. Back in April, Bloomberg reported that by the end of March, Trump had spent $4.9 million on legal fees.

According to the prosecution's version, in 2006 the politician became intimate with porn actress Stormy Daniels, and in 2016 his lawyer Michael Cohen paid $130 thousand in exchange for a nondisclosure agreement. Trump reimbursed Cohen's financial spending by disguising the payments as legal fees. The total amount on the checks amounted to $420 thousand.

The President himself said that the accusation was nothing more than falsification, behind which was Biden, who wanted in this way to get rid of the main rival in the now past elections. On January 10, CNN reported that the court in New York refused to sentence the president in the case of forgery and decided to release Trump from prosecution of the case without any conditions.
