State Duma Deputy from Crimea Mikhail Sheremet urged US President Donald Trump not to talk to Russia in the language of force. On January 23, "RIA Novosti" reports that.

"We need to understand that Trump is not our close supporter, he communicates with us based on the interests, first of all, of his country. And the interests of the United States are known: to weaken other countries, becoming stronger at the expense of this. But Trump should not talk to Russia from a position of strength. It makes no sense," Sheremet said.

In his opinion, the head of the United States can influence the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, but so far, except for loud statements, there have been no substantive proposals from him.

The MP also noted that Trump realizes that there are many points of contact between Russia and the United States. Sheremet believes that the degree of confrontation between the countries should be reduced.

Earlier, on January 22, Trump threatened to raise taxes and impose new sanctions on Russian exports to the United States if the conflict in Ukraine is not resolved soon. The American president called the "deal" itself a favor he was doing for Russia.

On this day, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that Trump instructed his special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg to resolve the Ukrainian conflict in 100 days.

Commenting on the relevant media report, Klimov said that the US should learn to behave in a civilized manner in the international arena, including in relations with Russia. According to him, 100 days comes from the American tradition, when during this time American presidents show miracles to the people.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
