Roskachestvo found violations at several marshmallow producers

In Russia, violations of safety indicators have been detected at manufacturers of marshmallows under the brands Belevsky Zephyr (Tula Region) and Lyanezh (St. Petersburg), Roskachestvo told Izvestia.

A total of 20 brands were investigated for safety indicators. The reason for this was media reports about mass poisoning of Russians with marshmallow brand (TM) "Giselle" with maltitol (this product was also tested as part of the study). However, as "Izvestia" was informed by Roskachestvo with reference to Rospotrebnadzor, the version about the danger of these products was not confirmed.

The study showed that maltitol is contained only in the marshmallows where this sugar substitute is declared. That is, manufacturers do not add it without indicating it on the labeling. Where maltite is contained, in addition to the corresponding indication in the composition, there is an inscription "in case of excessive consumption may (may) have a laxative effect."

"Some problems were in microbiological indicators. In the products "Belevsky Zephyr" (Tula region) and "Lyanezh" (St. Petersburg), a slight excess was found in the indicator "total number of mesophilic aerobic and facultatively anaerobic microorganisms (CMAFANM)." E. coli bacteria, salmonella, yeast and molds were not detected in marshmallows. No discrepancies were found in the marshmallow "Giselle", which was associated with mass poisonings at the end of 2024," - said in Roskachestvo.

At the same time, it reported that the department of Rospotrebnadzor for St. Petersburg and the Tula region announced warnings about the inadmissibility of violation of mandatory requirements to the manufacturers of marshmallows TM "Lyanezh" LLC "Confectionery factory "Neva" and TM "Belevsky marshmallow" LLC "Belevskaya pastila".

"The manufacturer of the trademark "Belevsky marshmallow" (LLC "Belevskaya pastila") reported that on the information received the manufacturer immediately decided to organize an extended working meeting, at which a plan of corrective measures was developed, aimed at strengthening the sanitary regime at the enterprise and the production of safe products for consumers. Additionally, the manufacturer informed that the developed plan of measures to strengthen control over compliance with technological and sanitary-hygienic regime at the enterprise is fully implemented", - noted in Roskachestvo.

They also noted that the retail chain "Globus" reported that an internal investigation was conducted. In the course of this action, the information was sent to the manufacturers LLC "KF "Neva" and LLC "Belevskaya pastila" to conduct an investigation in production. The goods were removed from sale in the entire network of LLC "HYPERGLOBUS".

Earlier, on October 24 last year, Rospotrebnadzor suspended the activities of the confectionery factory "Sokol", where sugar-free marshmallows were produced. In the message of the agency noted that in respect of the confectionery factory organized an inspection. The sale of marshmallows "Classic" and "Giselle" is suspended in retail chains "VkusVill", LLC "Lenta" and X5 Group.
