Fitzo assesses probability of US offer to Ukraine to join NATO

The United States will not propose that Ukraine join NATO, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo said in parliament on January 21 during a vote of no confidence debate.
"What is the use of going to Kiev and promising [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky that you will support Ukraine's accession to NATO when you yourself know very well that the United States simply will not make Ukraine such an offer," Fitzo said.
He added that NATO expansion and Ukraine's joining the alliance is "the basis for World War III."
Earlier, on January 16, Zelensky said that Hungary, Slovakia, the United States and Germany do not want to see Ukraine in NATO. According to him, each state has "its own reasons" for this.
Ukraine applied to join NATO on September 30, 2022. Then the Ukrainian leader specified that in fact the country is already in the alliance and meets its standards. Russia opposes Ukraine's accession to NATO.
