German Chancellor Scholz called Trump a challenge for Europe

US President Donald Trump will be a challenge for Europe. This statement was made on January 22 by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at a press conference on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the signing of the Elysée Treaty between Germany and France, which was hosted by YouTube channel Phoenix.
"As of this week, we will have to deal with a new US administration. As has already become clear, President Trump will be a challenge," Scholz said, pausing before the word "challenge."
Scholz noted that European states have a long history of friendship and partnership and today's Europe comes from having this foundation. The FRG Chancellor also noted that European politicians will scrutinize the decisions made by the American president.
Earlier in the day, Finnish President Alexander Stubb said that an era of uncertainty could come under Trump. The Finnish leader also added that the new presidential administration needs to be convinced that the values and interests of the Trump team will still come down to international cooperation.
On January 20, Trump took the oath of office, becoming the 47th president of the United States. After the inauguration ceremony, he signed more than 200 decrees. In particular, he approved decisions to withdraw the country from WHO and create the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Also, the Republican suspended Washington's aid abroad, returned the death penalty at the federal level and postponed the blocking of TikTok. Along with this, Trump rescinded about 80 executive orders of former US President Joe Biden's administration, including on electric cars. He also announced the recognition of only two genders in the US - male and female.
