Russian goalie Igor Shestyorkin of the New York Rangers hockey team was named the second star of the day in the National Hockey League (NHL) after he deflected all 20 shots by the Ottawa Senators and got into a fight with their forward Brady Tkachuk. The meeting took place on January 22.

The 29-year-old Russian helped the team win 5-0.

Shestyorkin took part in a mass brawl that broke out during the match. The scuffle began after Tkachuk slammed into the Russian hockey player, causing him to fall and stay on the ice for several seconds. Shestyorkin, in turn, got up and attacked his opponent in response.

Other Rangers players also joined the fight, standing up for their teammate.

Earlier, on December 25, 2024, it was reported that Shestyorkin was included in the list of the best goalies of the week in the NHL. It is noted that the statistics took into account the percentage of reflected shots. Shestyorkin reflected 95.2% of shots.
