The Governor of Krasnodar Region announced the development of a mechanism for beach reclamation

The mechanism of reclamation of beaches and dunes after the emission of oil products due to the accident with tankers in the Kerch Strait is being developed. This was announced by the Governor of Krasnodar region Veniamin Kondratiev on January 22.

"It is necessary to restore beaches and dunes. We are now developing a reclamation mechanism," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Kondratyev said that at the moment an effective method of protecting the coastline has been created: specialists form a shaft and lay a polypropylene mesh on it, which prevents fuel oil from being absorbed by the sea and spreading on the beach.

In addition, the governor added, at the temporary accumulation site in Voskresenskoye farm, a "Grohot" unit was put into operation, which allows separating sand from oil products. All residues of fuel oil are planned to be removed by April 1, Kondratyev specified.

On the same day it was reported that the vessel "Volgoneft-212" sunk in the Kerch Strait, according to preliminary data, it will be possible to raise from the bottom. The minimum thickness of the hull of the tanker is 6 mm, and it is possible to apply loads to the metal.

Before that, on January 21, the first of the four tanks of the vessel "Volgoneft-239", which also crashed in the Black Sea, was pumped out of fuel oil. An embankment with a soil berm was made around it. After cleaning the tanker may be utilized on site or transported to the port if technically possible.

The tankers Volgoneft-212 andVolgoneft-239crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024 due to bad weather. The incident resulted in a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group was set up to coordinate the work to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.
