A new powerful flare lasting 40 minutes has been registered on the Sun. This was reported on January 22 on the website of the Institute of Applied Geophysics named after Fedorov.

"January 22 <...> in the X-ray range registered flare M1.4 (S16W15) with a duration of 40 minutes," - stated in a statement.

The institute made a space weather forecast for January 22 and 23. According to his data, the Sun is possible flares of class X.

January 21, a powerful M-class flare lasting 48 minutes occurred on the Sun. Earlier, January 4, on the Sun there were six powerful flares, one of them - class X. Class X1.1 flare of 24 minutes duration was registered at 1:41 Moscow time.
