Lawyer told of an increase in a number of payments to families with children in February

February 1, a number of payments and benefits for families with children will increase in Russia, in particular, the lump-sum benefit at the birth of a child will rise to Br26.4 thousand. This was announced on Wednesday, January 22, by the dean of the Faculty of Law of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, Professor Vadim Vinogradov.

"From February 1, 2025, the amount of a lump-sum benefit at the birth of a child will increase to 26.4 thousand rubles, which means an increase to January of the same year by 1,796 rubles. The allowance is paid for each newborn, which is especially important for parents who have several children at once," he told RT.

Vinogradov specified that in February 2025 the maternity capital will be indexed by 7.3%, amounting to 676 thousand rubles for the first child, and 217 thousand or 894 thousand rubles for the second, if previously there were no payments for the first. The maximum maternity benefits for working women will grow almost one and a half times compared to 2024, reaching Br1,100,750 for multiple pregnancies, he added.

The lawyer specified that the size of the single benefit for children and pregnant women in 2025 will depend on the regional subsistence minimum and will range from Br8.8 thousand to Br17.7 thousand per month for children, and from Br9.6 thousand to Br19.3 thousand for pregnant women, while the minimum monthly payment for child care up to one and a half years will amount to Br9.2 thousand, the maximum - Br68.9 thousand.

Earlier, on December 13, 2024, the general director of the professional legal group AID, lawyer David Adams told "Izvestia" about federal and regional social payments to pensions. He stated that the federal social supplement is assigned if the total income of a pensioner, including pension and other social payments, does not reach the established subsistence minimum of a pensioner in the region.

At the same time, the regional social supplementary payment, unlike the federal one, is assigned if the subsistence minimum in the region exceeds the all-Russian indicator. It is paid from the regional budget by social protection agencies.
