People's Artist of Russia and State Duma deputy Nikolai Burlyaev has sent a letter to the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation demanding an investigation into the death of Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov.

According to him, those interested in the circumstances of the case are convinced of the bad faith of the investigation into Lermontov's murder at the foot of Mount Mashuk on July 27, 1841.

"It is necessary to conduct a professional investigation of all the circumstances that led to the "duel" and the death of the great Russian poet M.Y. Lermontov (from a bullet that hit the poet's body along an unbelievable trajectory for a flat surface - from bottom to top, at an angle of almost 40 degrees)," RIA Novosti quoted the document as saying on January 22.

The MP called for a "modern, honest, unbiased investigation" with the use of modern technologies at the disposal of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, December 25, 2024, marked the 110th anniversary of the Chamber Theater, which has been named after Russian writer Alexander Pushkin since 1950. A gift for the audience was the premiere of the play "Bad Goods" based on the comedy of manners "Lady Windermere's Fan" by English playwright Oscar Wilde.
