Krasnoyarsk customs seized 86 thousand packs of counterfeit cigarettes for the year

Krasnoyarsk customs officers seized more than 86 thousand packs of unlabeled cigarettes in the framework of inspections in the domestic market in 2024. This is almost twice as much as a year earlier, reports the press service of the Siberian Customs Administration.

The total value of the counterfeit seized from the counters amounted to more than 10 million rubles. Illegal tobacco products were sold in stores in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Tyva and Khakassia. The largest batches were found in Achinsk (26.6 thousand packs) and Zelenogorsk (8.9 thousand packs).

In all cases, cigarette packs lacked the mandatory DataMatrix code labeling. Some of the tobacco products lacked excise stamps or had signs of forgery.

As KrasnoyarskMedia IA notes, 13 criminal cases were initiated on the fact of violations revealed by customs officers.

Earlier "Izvestia" wrote that in the Baltics thrives production of counterfeit cigarettes, indistinguishable from the products of well-known Western brands. Ukrainians are attracted to the factories as cheap labor.
