There were 202 traffic accidents in Russia over the past day
Over the past day, 202 road accidents occurred on Russian roads, in which 21 people were killed and 246 injured. Nine of the dead were passengers or drivers of vehicles. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Wednesday, January 22, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 79 accidents, 31 of which occurred at crosswalks and 48 outside their zone of action, 12 pedestrians were killed, another 68 were injured of varying severity. Twenty accidents involving minors were registered, resulting in injuries to 21 young road users, including 13 pedestrians and eight child passengers. No children were killed. Seven of the injured child pedestrians were injured at crosswalks, six - outside their zone of action.
The traffic police urges motorists to observe traffic rules and driving discipline, reducing speed in advance up to a complete stop of the vehicle when approaching crosswalks. The agency drew the attention of pedestrians to the need to cross the roadway only in the places established for this purpose, making sure that their actions are safe. When moving in the dark and in conditions of insufficient visibility should be used on their clothes and children's clothing retroreflective elements to become in any case more visible to drivers in the light of headlights.
The State Traffic Police recommended drivers to take into account the weather forecast reports before going on the road in personal vehicles. Thus, in the Orenburg region due to adverse weather conditions in the form of gusty winds, snow, blizzard and visibility restrictions temporarily stopped traffic on the 90-kilometer section of the federal highway M-5 "Ural" when approaching the checkpoint "Orsk" from 170th km to 260th km, and in the Chelyabinsk Oblast and the Republic of Bashkortostan there is a restriction of traffic for buses and trucks on the same highway (from 1549th km to 1780th km, as well as from 1251st km to 1363rd km).
In the Kurgan region, due to bad weather, traffic on the federal highway R-254 "Irtysh" (Chelyabinsk - Kurgan - Omsk - Novosibirsk) from the 55th km to the 466th km was temporarily restricted for several hours for buses and trucks. Traffic at the approach to Ishim city from 396th km to 480th km for these categories of vehicles is still restricted.
For the same reasons buses and trucks did not move along three sections of the federal highway M-7 "Volga" in the Republic of Tatarstan for almost the whole second half of yesterday. In the Republic of Bashkortostan a section of the federal highway R-240 Ufa - Orenburg (access to M-12 "Vostok") from the 0th km to the 102nd km was closed for them. Temporary restriction of movement for them is still in place.
In these and adjoining regions employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate carry round-the-clock service in a reinforced mode and are focused on providing immediate assistance to all road users, caught because of bad weather in a difficult situation on the road, emphasized in the department.
"When planning long-distance trips, drivers and passengers are advised to follow the weather forecast, as well as media reports from places of road closures or traffic restrictions. When planning a route, safety rules should be observed, choosing the route of travel taking into account weather and road conditions. During winter inclement weather, strong gusty winds, snowfall, snowstorms, if possible refrain from using personal vehicles until weather conditions improve", - said "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of road safety propaganda and prevention of child traffic injuries of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.
Earlier in the day it was reported that the State Duma passed in the first reading a government bill that proposes to oblige operators of toll roads to notify drivers of to ll debt through the portal "Gosuservices".
